Today, hopefully, I will finally get my kitchen pantry in! It has been four years since we had our kitchen redone and the pantry is the only thing left that needs finished. Denny is out buying the shelving as I type. The hard part will be working together to put it in. This is never good. You see, It usually takes my husband four tries before he gets it right. He tries. Boy, does he try. He just isn't the handyman type. He gets very frustrated. I am sure many of you can relate. My job, other than to hold the level, will be to act as the scapegoat. I know it will be my fault if something goes wrong. So I am told.
Hopefully, my next post will be with pictures of my new pantry!
Wish us luck.
GO STEELERS!
BTW My poor daughter is still sick and tomorrow is her 10th birthday. I got her an IPod Touch like her sister's. I can't wait to give it to her. She is going to love it.
PANTRY UPDATES...
UPDATE 1: 3:41
Denny just started installing the baseboard in the pantry when he discovered that he doesn't have enough 2 inch nail gun nails to complete the project. After a few complaints he leaves for Home Depot to purchase some more. We were only five minutes into the project. At least, this isn't my fault.
UPDATE 2: 5:18
Baseboards are in!!!! One little gap, but who is going to see it at the bottom of a closet? Marriage is still intact. One thing about craftman style houses, we have LOTS of woodwork - which isn't cheap when you remodel.
UPDATE 3: 5:24
Ooops. The baseboards are not quite done. There is more molding, apparently. Denny is not very happy right now since he messed up the cuts. Again, not my fault. Marriage is still intact.
DAY 2
UPDATE 4: 8:18
I left Denny last night to take my daughter to Canteen. While I was gone, he put up the inside door molding. YAY! No real problems. He had to trim down one board, as it was too wide. Then, he was hit on the head by another board. Today the goal is to put up the shelves. It probably should only take 30 minutes or less. We'll see what Denny time is:)
UPDATE 1:47
Painting the spackling while listening to pre Super Bowl hype. GO STEEEELEEERRRRSSS!
UPDATE 2:46
The strips are up that you put the brackets in!!! HOWEVER, since we switched our shelf size from 12" to 16" the brackets that we had purchased will not work. Denny is not a happy camper right now. I am staying out his way. I can hear him complaining about making the 1/2 hour one-way trip to Lowes.
UPDATE 4:50
Things are getting heated. Everything is not level and it is, of course, my fault. Two shelves are too long and need recut.
UPDATE 5:10
Our marriage survived!!! It didn't help that I didn't know what an Alan wrench was when I asked to go get one. I think I brought back a crescent wrench, or something.
UPDATE 5:43
YAY!!!! The kitchen remodeling is officially ovah! This was our last project to finish. I already have the pantry filled. Now, I have to figure out what to put in my other empty cupboards.
Here are some pics of the entire kitchen. I won't repeat how long it took us.
"The Pantry"
We are going to add one more shelf at the bottom for cleaning supplies. We already have a pull-out trash can and do not really need to have two.
This is the view as you would come in through the back door. I know, I need some accents. I am getting around to it.
Another view.
I love my sink!!!
These last pictures are for my brother who built and designed our shower stall. He did an unbelievable job. I love the rustic look to it.
We saved money by using slate from off-the-shelf at Home Depot. The shelves were cut from slabs of slate from a rock place (I can't remember the exact name).
Of course, I wanted a place to place my foot for shaving. It also works as a nice seat. Again, another slate slab. Total for seat $14.00.
I love the mosaic flooring.
Built-ins for bathing supplies.
I know this is pretty warped. My fish-eye was the only lens that could capture the entire shower. Thanks, Jim! I LOVE IT!!!!!
