First off, let me say a HUGE thank you to David Burke for putting this workshop together! Not only was it full of information and ideas, it was a great opportunity for photographers to get together to share what they love...taking pictures. This is soooo important. My poor hubby just doesn't get my love of the camera and the image. He tries, don't get me wrong. But if he had the choice of listening to me talk about bokeh or watching a feminine hygiene commercial, the commercial would win handsdown. The same can be said for me listening to him talk about his precious John Deere.
We started off basically chit-chatting. Then David gave a brief informal lecture about using one light flash. What I really liked was that he kept it simple. Many times when you hear about flash there are numbers thrown around and terms that leave you wondering, huh? After learning the basic concepts, we headed outside equipped with an umbrella, pocket wizard, stand, and of course our cameras. Kristen was a dear and modeled for us. Poor thing must have a sore mouth from all the smiling she did.
Again, thank you, David. I am already looking forward to your next workshop.

We were working on darkening the background and lighting the subject. But....I just couldn't keep shooting that way. I love my backgrounds with color. Love it. Give me bokeh and color any day! That is what is so fun when you get together. Everyone has their own style.
Two closing shots. LOVING the sky.
